Our TeamSusan Lien Longville, Director, joined the staff of the WRI in April of 2003 after serving two terms as the Chair of the Advisory Board when she was the Inland Empire Regional Manager for Cadiz Inc., an agricultural and water development firm, from 1999-2002. Susan has been a San Bernardino City Council Member representing the Second Ward since 1997 where she also serves on the board of the San Bernardino Regional Water Resources Authority and the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG). Susan Lien Longville graduated from the University of Redlands in Environmental Studies and is active in local, regional, and statewide water organizations including the Southern California Water Dialogue and the Public Officials for Water and Environmental Reform. She served on the Governor's Floodplain Management Task Force in 2002 and continues to advocate for better local planning to deal with risks of alluvial fan flooding outside of FEMA floodplains. Susan Lien has two sons and one daughter and is married to John Longville, former California Assembly member and Mayor of Rialto. Gigi Hanna, Associate Director , joined the WRI staff in November 2006 after working for six years as a Public Affairs representative for Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. Prior to that she worked as a reporter covering water and other topics for newspapers in Southern and Central California. She received her B.A. in journalism from Humboldt State University and is completing her M.A. in communications at California State University, Fullerton.
Lisa A. Pierce , Research Associate , has her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from The School for International Training - Brattleboro , VT and her Master of Arts in Environmental Affairs with an emphasis in Water Resources Management from Clark University , Worcester MA . Ms Pierce spent 6 years in the environmental consulting arena before joining ESRI, in Redlands as a marketing representative for ESRI's Geographical Information Systems software and later became a certified trainer in 1997. Ms. Pierce has been a trainer in both the formal Certified ESRI Classes as well in applied GIS classes at a variety of local educational institutions. Most recently she taught a GIS for Environmental Modeling class at the University of California Riverside Extension - GIS Certification program. In January 2003, Ms Pierce joined the WRI to further their Digital library archives effort to support the implementation of the San Bernardino Geospatial Data Clearinghouse Node and water resources related GIS support. Ms. Pierce is certified to teach both ArcView 3.2 and ArcGIS 8.x and 9.x classes as well as Working with Spatial Analyst. 8.3 Or 9.0. Suzie Earp , Historian/Archivist, has her Bachelor of Arts in History from the California State University - San Bernardino , CA , with Honors and she expects to complete her Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, California State University San Bernardino, CA. Ms. Earp organizes the archives of the WRI for use by topic, collection, or geographic location. She researches and conducts local Oral Histories and locates documents in archives for students, faculty, and other researchers and makes copies as needed. Ms. Earp updates and maintains the Newspaper/Internet files and the Periodical files, and writes entries into the Water Resources Institute filing system, Biblioscape. |
