Searchable ArchivesIn order to make our archives more accessible and useful, the Water Resources Institute (WRI) is building a searchable electronic database of local water-related documents housed in our WRI Archives, at the Pfau Library at California State University , San Bernardino . Towards this goal, the WRI is initiating a pilot project using Biblioweb to serve this evolving document list. We have enabled this list using traditional search capabilities by title, date, etc but we are also enabling the system to be searchable by geographic place, both in a place based search (Region, County, City) and by watershed and stream reaches (California Hydrologic: Unit Name, Area Name and Subarea name). In the next phase, our efforts will also include adding a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) interface using map-based search capabilities. With this initiative, the WRI hopes to support local agencies in making better watershed planning decisions, while coordinating these efforts within the broader watershed communities. Please contact our research associate, Lisa Pierce at (909) 537-7681 for further details or comments.
